HAMMERSMITH
CANNOT TRUST BORIS JOHNSON
THAMES TUNNEL – SUPER SEWER
The Mayor has, quite simply, been dishonest and secretive about his support for this project. The secret papers I obtained through the FOIA show that he has supported the Tunnel from day one, despite his subsequent attempts to placate angry residents. He says the scheme “may need a rethink”. Or perhaps it may not? That’s about as vague and incompetent as it gets. You cannot trust Boris on the Super Sewer.
SHEPHERDS BUSH MARKET
Johnson told a restless audience at Hammersmith Town Hall Question Time that he would help the people of Shepherds Bush Market, even though he knew that a week earlier, he had personally signed the letter giving the council final permission to proceed with the scheme.
This breathtaking piece of dishonesty shocked many people, and makes clear his absolute, hand-in-glove complicity with every planning objective Hammersmith Council present him, as well as his willingness to deliberately deceive ordinary people about his actions. You cannot trust Boris on Shepherds Bush Market
HAMMERSMITH TOWN HALL/KING ST
In December, after a vigorous campaign involving the group Save our Skylines, people celebrated what they thought was the shelving of the plan to wreck King St and the Riverside.
But the way is clear for the application to be re-presented and rushed through if he is returned on 3rd May, once the election is past. And in recent leaked documents that I have been shown, that apears to be exactly what our council are intending to do. You cannot trust Boris on King Street
You cannot trust Boris on many other things that directly affect us here in Hammersmith – I haven’t mentioned the plans to demolish West Ken Estate, massive developments being waved through in Shepherds Bush and Earls Court, or his inept handling of the Hammersmith Flyover fiasco. These are all issues he has connived with the council on and ignored thousands of letters, pleas, and consultation responses asking him to consider the needs of ordinary residents before those of big business. He has failed on every count. Your only chance of being heard now is at the ballot box.
Ken Livingstone has visited Hammersmith regularly over many years, and understands what is going on here. The only way to put the brakes on the massive overdevelopment the council is careering towards, the demolition of hundreds of local homes and the social cleansing of hundreds of local families, and get policies from the Mayor that work in the interests of local people is to have a new Mayor tomorrow.
The polls are open until 10pm this evening. You can put Ken Livingstone first Choice or second Choice - as long as he’s in front of Boris, we’ll get the new Mayor we all need.
Please use your vote – and remember the queues at the general election:
the earlier you vote the less likely you are to be turned away and lose your vote.
