Hammersmith MP Andy Slaughter has called for a full public consultation into healthcare changes in west London
Speaking after Hammersmith and Fulham Council’s health scrutiny committee, Mr Slaughter, said:
On Imperial NHS Trust: “I was horrified at how just how shambolic and muddled Imperial’s response was. They seemed to constantly contradict themselves over exactly what emergency services would be left at Charing Cross Hospital and seemed extremely complacent about closing the A&E departments at Hammersmith and Central Middlesex. They are burying their heads in the sand and ignoring the growing crisis in the NHS, not to mention any possible burdens during the winter period. We urgently need a full and transparent public consultation ahead of their new plans for healthcare in west London. Any refusal to do this would be of great concern and worry to my constituents.”
On Conservatives’ failure to back a consultation: “I was astonished that when the committee chair proposed a new full, public consultation, one of the Tory Cllrs shouted out “no”. Their failure to stand up for local healthcare is extraordinarily insulting to everyone in west London. They have learnt no lessons from their stunning defeat in the May Local Elections.”
