  • Two A&Es closed in west London this week

Two A&Es closed in west London this week – but the fight to save our NHS goes on

Wednesday was a black day  for the health service in west London as Cameron and Hunt went ahead with the closure of Hammersmith & Central Middlesex A&E departments.  As revealed by the Evening Standard on Wednesday the closures are happening as Imperial – the Trust that runs Hammersmith, Charing Cross and St Mary’s – is making losses of almost £2 million a month, confirming suspicions that they are needed to balance the books.

  • Turn Up Save Lives

Andy Slaughter MP has supported a Private Member’s Bill (PMB) which would enshrine in law the UK’s commitment to give 0.7% of Gross National Income (GNI) to Official Development Assistance.

The International Development (Official Development Assistance Target) Bill which had its Second Reading on 12th September in the House of Commons. The Bill is originally a Labour initiative, completing a course set by the last Labour Government, and as such the Labour Party support it now.

  • Imperial march on towards A&E closure plan

Closing A&E departments is never going to be popular, but the way this week’s decisions on the future of west London hospital services was taken was also insulting and misleading.
