Stop the Hospital Closures

Sign the petition!

Reorganisation of the NHS is leading to damaging changes in healthcare in Hammersmith & Fulham. Our borough's population is rising and demand is increasing. Yet, under the planned changes, access to local emergency care will be drastically reduced.

  • Charing Cross Hospital will be demolished. Much of the site will be sold off to developers to pay for redevelopment of St Mary's and a lesser facility on the remaining land.
  • Hammersmith Hospital's A&E has closed.
  • Charing Cross A&E will be downgraded to an 'emergency centre' run by GPs. There will be no Emergency Medicine consultants on site. Consultants at other sites will provide advice by phone or video link.
  • Because Charing Cross will no longer have a top-tier A&E, its world-class stroke unit will be moved to St Mary's, Paddington.
  • Charing Cross will lose 336 of its 360 in-patient beds, 93% of the total.
  • People who suffer a stroke or who need emergency surgery will have to be taken to St Mary's Paddington instead of Charing Cross. For many, travel times will increase.
  • Travel times for families and carers of these patients will also increase and journeys and parking will be more difficult and more expensive.

We call for an immediate halt to further closures of hospital services in Hammersmith & Fulham, and a full review and public consultation on the future of our local NHS.

my mother lives in W12 and has had to visit Charing Cross A and E many times.

It’s disgusting that Hammersmith Hosp has already closed the A and E ~ if Charing Cross goes as we would have to take her to St Mary’s which is much further and impossible to park ! Waiting times are long enough already so will be even worse if this goes ahead…..it’s unthinkable.

Please stop this attack on the NHS and our hospitals, especially concerned about Charing Cross hospital where I have been a patient for years. Disabled and people with sensory loss need a good hospital in their local area and the loss of these facilities will be a disaster. Eye operations are now not performed at Charing X but have to be conducted at the Western eye hospital in Marylebond which is simply not equipped to deal with the present situation. I is simply madness to sell off a much more modern and better equipped and situated hospital like Charing Cross and put patients in an old antiquated building where staff have to operate in franikly third world conditions and patients are discharged , still under the effects of anaesthetics, literatlly onto the street because there are no parking facilities nearby and the Marylebond road is a motorway where nobody can stop!!!! P:lease get government to abandon this crazy scheme and scrap plans to demolish Charing Cross!!!

My fantasy would be for crossparty panel to agree on management of the NHS so it would no longer be used as a political vote winner – i.e patient care & welfare would genuinely be the priority

Charing Cross is an integrated services hospital created with advanced medical thinking on cross support for patients whose ailments do not fall into one neatly segregated specialty. So far the imperial health authority had told neither patients not local doctors how it plans to replace the services it plans to demolish. Every progressive health service in the EU CREATES before it demolishes. Imperial seeks to demolish and then muddle through. I reject their approach, their goal of scattered or non-existent services.

Nurses at Charing Cross are very effective and have looked after

me very well and helped in my recovery.I say prayers that

Charing Cross will not go. Its vital for people to know that if they

fall ill they will be safe and well at Charing Cross. Its a wonderful

hospital for tests and procedures to enhance one.s longevity ie

Ultrasound, Endoscopy,Angioscopy, TacChometry ,Praise be to

Charing Cross!
