Join the campaign to stop the tax credits cut
Many of you have been in touch regarding David Cameron’s proposed cuts to tax credits.
For those of you who don’t know, tax credits are often a crucial safety net providing support to those with children, are disabled or are in work but on low incomes.
New research released by the House of Commons Library has revealed that the Conservative Party’s changes to tax credits will leave many of those working families on average £1,300 worse off a year.
And a report from the Resolution think-tank highlights how David Cameron’s cuts to tax credits and other benefits will push an estimated 200,000 children into poverty next year.
This is simply unacceptable in a civilised society.
The Tories are breaking their promise to the British public.
Here, in Hammersmith, the figures show that 7,100 children in working families will be hit by the cuts.
The government should not be making life tougher for families who work hard day after day just to get by in this way.
That’s why I am calling on David Cameron to act now and stop the tax credit cut.
Signing this petition will send him a message that Hammersmith families deserve better than his broken promises.
